“Life in Washington County” Documentary Barre Premiere April 13th in Graniteville
GRANITEVILLE—The historical documentary “Life in Washington County” has been shown around the state to great acclaim, but has not yet been offered publicly in Barre. Rock of Ages Corporation, as part of a year-long celebration event of its 125th year in business, is sponsoring two public showings of the documentary the evening of April 13th at the Rock of Ages Visitors Center at 558 Graniteville Road in Graniteville (Barre Town), commencing at 6:30 p.m. The event, co-sponsored by Cabot Cooperative Creamery, will offer local residents an opportunity to see the thirty-four minute documentary packed with more than 200 historic photos and many interviews about what it was like to live in Washington County in the first half of the 20th century. In addition, the “Making of Life in Washington County” will be shown with comments and insights provided by Senator Bill Doyle and video co-producer Vince Franke. Light refreshments will be provided by Rock of Ages and Cabot Creamery. Admission to the event is free.
Like the other videos in this series, copies have been made available free of charge to local schools, historical societies and libraries. Copies of the six videos in the series as well as copies of the recently completed seventh, “Barre Memories”, will be available for sale during the evening for just $15.00 per copy. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the Barre Historical Society.
